Tangerine METERZ
The Future of Analog Console Metering is now !
METERZ revolutionize analog console metering by replacing traditional plasma and VU meters with high-resolution LCD displays powered by DSP processing. Designed specifically for SSL consoles, METERZ deliver accuracy, precision, flexibility & ease of maintenance, ensuring analog stays at the cutting edge of modern audio workflows.
Precise, Versatile, LCD Metering
Each METERZ contains 4 LCD screens, providing metering for one full bucket of 8 channels.
Multiple metering modes are supported:
- Classic SSL VU - a perfect replica of the SSL VU meter with record, vca, group and tape LEDs.
- Bargraph - an SSL-style bargraph configurable for optional peak hold and/or an additional VU indicator.
- Peak Program Meter (PPM) - available on a classic graticule or bargraph.
- Loudness - ITU-1770-compliant metering showing both LUFS and True Peak.
- Spectral + Phase (coming soon)
- ATMOS (coming soon)
- K-Metering (K-12, K-14 and K-20) (coming soon)
Each metering mode features precisely calibrated ballistics and decay times, ensuring accurate response exactly as intended by industry specifications.
Personalized & Session-Synced
The METERZ Plug-In seamlessly synchronizes meter labels with your DAW, automatically recalling channel names for every session.
Each channel can be individually configured with its own metering style — for example, VU metering on input channels and LUFS + Peak metering on outputs — with all settings automatically recalled through the plug-in.
Seamless Metering for Hybrid Sessions
We get it — owning a legendary analog console doesn’t mean every client will choose to mix on it. Wouldn’t it be great if your SSL console could still be of service during in-the-box (ITB) mix sessions?
With multiple input monitoring modes, METERZ can transform your SSL meter bridge into a powerful metering system for digital sources. Whether your room is being used for console-based mixing, tracking, or ITB sessions, METERZ offers tailored metering modes to fit your workflow:
- Console Mode: METERZ monitor your SSL’s channels, just like the traditional meter bridge.
- Converter Mode: METERZ display input levels from your converters — perfect for avoiding clipping during tracking.
- DAW Mode (coming soon): METERZ show the levels of any track in your DAW, ideal for ITB mixing sessions.
Switch between these modes seamlessly and keep your console delivering value in every scenario.
Sophisticated Design, Simple Installation
Designed as a drop-in replacement for legacy meters in SSL consoles (4K, 6K, 8K, and 9000 J/K series), installation requires no specialized technician.
- Unscrew and remove the existing meter pannel.
- Disconnect the ribbon cables going from each channel strip to the vintage meters.
- Connect METERZ to each channel using the provided ribbon cables.
- Daisy-chain each METERZ module using the provided RJ-45 cables.
- Connect the power supply and USB to the METERZ module located in the centre section.
- Install the METERZ software and Plug-In.
- Enjoy!
Privacy Built-In
Whether your studio is operated by a tight-knit team of trusted engineers, accommodates multiple daily clients, or hosts high-profile artists working on secret projects, METERZ adapts to meet your specific needs.
- Custom Startup Behavior: Configure METERZ to match your studio’s vibe and aesthetic. Customize meter types, channel names, and even upload a background with your studio logo (or graticules that crank up to 11). Optional password protection ensures visiting engineers won’t accidentally overwrite your settings.
- Individual Profiles: Each engineer can create and save their own profile in the METERZ software, allowing them to instantly recall their preferred setup. Profiles can either remain active on the console or automatically revert to default settings when the user logs out.
- Metering Sessions: Through the METERZ Plug-In, meter labels and types sync with each DAW session. When the session is closed, these settings are automatically cleared from the console — so no one will know Elvis is still alive and working on his next project in your studio.
Hardware Control
The primary METERZ module — installed in the center section — includes four contact-closure GPIOs. These can be connected to any momentary switch, enabling rapid preset recall directly from the console’s center section. Instantly toggle between VU, PPM, and loudness metering or reload custom presets with the push of a button — all without having to use your keyboard or mouse.
